Cooking With Lou: Sticky BBQ Chicken

Image
This is something new that I am trying. I cook practically every week and never post what I make.   My dad has been teaching me how to cook for at least a few months now, so I thought, why not share some of our recipes on my blog, while testing my minimal photography skills! Ingredients: Sunflower oil Chicken          Seasonings (Any you can find)         Mixing the seasonings together beforehand gives the best effect.                         Sweet BBQ sauce (Ketchup, Worcester sauce, chilli sauce and honey)     Method: 1) Wash chicken in salt water   2) Fill a pan 1/2 full with oil Turn hob on and allow the oil to heat up   3) Season chicken Use your hands to thoroughly coat the chicken with the seasonings   4) Place seasoned chicken in boiling oil Leave for 20-25 minutes   5) Preheat oven   6) Coat chicken in BBQ sauce   Make sure each piece is thor

Girl Talk: Shopping

Image
It is a common misconception that, from birth, all girls love to shop. This may be true for you and your group of friends. Who doesn't enjoy window shopping and buying something new to play around with? I've noticed that internet shopping is becoming a much bigger thing, in some cases putting normal shops out of business. When did it become the norm to buy things based on pictures that we've seen on the internet? I've been thinking about this more lately with the EBay hacking crisis. People complain that teenagers don't leave home enough, but they make everything that we will ever need available on the internet. It sounds like a bit of a contradiction to me. Just because we are girls doesn't mean that we all enjoy shopping for the same things. Most of my friends enjoy shopping for clothes. They purchase outfit after outfit without wearing the first few that they bought. Other friends of mine are more into make-up. They have to buy a lip-gloss, for exam

May Favourites!

Image
As it's the 28th of May, it's time for my 'May Favourites'! Favourite Movie: Back To The Future I'm counting this as one movie even though I am in love with the whole trilogy. I first watched Back To The Future when I was about 8 or 9 and I loved it ever since. Time travel has never really been something interesting to me, however the way that this was done completely drew me to it. The different recurring characters and the different issues that they face make me want to watch it over and over again (I watched the second part this morning)! I completely recommend anyone who hasn't seen this movie to watch it, and if you've already seen this, use this post as an excuse to watch it again! Favourite TV Show: The Big Bang Theory I am completely addicted to this! Sheldon Cooper literally makes me laugh so many times on a daily basis that it would be practically criminal not to watch it! The original idea is great because it paints the 'geeks' a

Book Review #7: Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone

Image
A review on a Tuesday is very unusual for me, but as tomorrow is the 28th May, it will be time to post my 'May Favourites', so I'm doing my review earlier. I am one of those people that watched the film before they saw the book. I was about 11 when I saw Harry Potter for the first time, and from the first film I was completely hooked! After seeing the film, my first thought was: 'I have to read this book!'. The book is about an orphaned boy who is sent to live with his aunt and uncle. He had been living with them for 10 years, but he never thought that he fitted in, especially because of the fact that the Dursley's and their son Dudley treated Harry as if he was a problem that they could ignore. That is, until he begun getting letters. One by one, letters addressed to Harry came through the door. Harry was never allowed to read one and he never knew what they were about. The Dursley's wanted to keep him as far away as possible from the letters, until t

1 Month!

Image
I can't actually believe it, but it's been exactly one month since I began blogging and the followers and comments that I have received have been amazing, making me want to continue blogging for as long as I can! I couldn't decide what I wanted to blog about today, but because it's bank holiday, I thought that I would tell you about the things that I have done today. I began my day by logging into my laptop and watching as many YouTube videos as I could. Here are some of my favourites: I then went out for lunch with some family members. It was pouring with rain and the last thing that I wanted to do was to leave my house, but I figured that if you don't get off the sofa once in a while you'll completely miss everything around you. We ended up eating at 'Frankie and Benny's' Being the boring person that I am, I opted for a plain cheese pizza for my main meal. It was completely delicious and I would definitely go there again and get

Random Acts of Kindness

Image
How kind are you? I was thinking all day about what to write a post about today, which is why this post is so late. Listening to the radio, I remembered that within the last few weeks, it was 'Random Acts of Kindness' day (I'm not sure when exactly, let me know in the comments), but it made me think. Why do we need a special day to be kind to each other? I think that it would be nice if people did at least one act of kindness every day. However, I am in no way saying that this is something that I do. It's hard to do this all the time, especially when the only people around you are people that you hate (such as at school). Carrie Fletcher started something along this theme called 'The Hopeful Notes' (twitter @thehopefulnotes) where she encouraged her viewers to leave post-it notes around the country with nice messages on them, for another Hopeful to find and tweet about. I thought this was a great idea as it encouraged people to think of nice things to

My Top 10 Songs Right Now

Image
What are your top 10? I was wondering what to do for tonight's post, so I was looking through my previous posts and I realised that I haven't done a 'My Top 10...' post in forever, since my Disney Movies, so I thought that this would be the perfect opportunity to do one. Below are my favourite songs of the moment. Some are older than others but they are all on repeat on my phone as I am writing this! 10. Love Is On The Radio - McFly I've mentioned this before but I am a huge fan of McFly! After waiting for a long period of time, without hearing any of their music, they finally released a new single and I fell in love with it. My favourite line has to be: "We could be married, like Mrs and Mr. We'll have a son and we'll give him a sister" purely because every time I hear it, I immediately think of Tom Fletcher and his wife Giovanna, who I completely love to pieces. They've recently had a baby, called Buzz and it's hard not to see
